Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia Programme

In order to forge next steps towards Indonesia’s “Laws and Regulations Team in Indonesia Fishing Sector”, Ship to Shore Right SEA organized a series of in-person bilateral meetings with relevant ministries and Government Agency (BP2MI) on October 28th, November 2nd and November 3th, 2021.

Albert Bonasahat, National Project Coordinator of Ship to Shore Rights SEA in Indonesia met with Captain Jaja Suparman, Head of Sub-Directorate of Seafarers of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr Dwi Anto, Director of Government’s Scheme of Placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Indonesian National Board of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers – BP2MI, Mr Judha Nugraha, Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizen and Indonesian Legal Entity, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr Mansur, Director of Fishing Vessels and Fishing Gears, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries who was accompanied by Mr Muhammad Iqbal, Coordinator of Fishing Vessels Crews, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

The series of in-person bilateral meetings strengthened the commitment towards establishing a harmonization team where Ship to Shore Rights SEA will provide technical assistance. The sessions allowed key actors to reiterate their engagement towards decent working conditions in Indonesia’s fisheries.
