ILO Celebrates International Migrants Day in Myanmar

On 18 December 1990, the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrants and Members of their Families was approved by the UN and December 18th was later designated as International Migrants Day.

This year, the ILO Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia and its implementing partners organized an online event to celebrate International Migrants Day by collecting and posting successful migration stories of migrant workers on the ILO Myanmar Facebook[UC1] [HB2]  page for 5 days. In addition, an online discussion with migrant workers was jointly organized by the Ship to Shore Rights, TRIANGLE in ASEAN and Safe and Fair programmes to share up-to-date information on safe migration and available services. The event was attended by 174 migrant and stakeholder participants and provided an opportunity to raise awareness about the migration situation in Myanmar. It also offered a chance for potential and return migrants to share their learning and experiences and celebrate the major contribution that Myanmar migrants make to their families, their communities and their country.

[UC1]Any chance we can link to the stories on the Facebook page?

[HB2]I think the quote is enough.
