The ILO extended technical support to the Migrant Resource Center (MRC) managed by the Cambodia Labour Confederation in Koh Kong, Cambodia. The two-day field visit on 23-24 March 2024 aimed to strengthen MRC efforts to equip potential migrant workers in Cambodia with information on safe migration and labour rights in the fishing and seafood processing sectors.

During the visit, the ILO helped to facilitate a series of MRC outreach activities, including organizing a community forum, pre-departure orientation training and disseminating informational materials to 121 potential migrant workers (74 women). Key topics covered in these sessions included labour rights, safe migration practices, financial literacy, and channels for lodging complaints.

In addition, the ILO visit included a focus group discussion with a nearby fishing community to gain insights into their livelihoods and migration experiences. The invaluable findings from this dialogue will be used to shape future activities by the MRC to foster safe migration practices within the community.
