At the request of Thailand’s Ministry of Labour, the ILO Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia programme provided technical comments on the draft announcement of criteria, methods and conditions for training of interns on-board fishing vessels. The meeting was conducted on 19 January 2022 as part of the upcoming revisions to the Ministerial Regulation on Labour Protection in Sea fisheries.

The ILO Senior Specialist on International Labour Standards and Labour Law and Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia technical staff provided inputs to the Ministry of Labour on the compatibility of the draft announcement with Thailand’s obligations under the ILO Conventions it has ratified. The changes to Thailand’s labour protection framework are expected to be promulgated in early 2022.
