To support greater coordination and cooperation among stakeholders, the ILO supported the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare to organize the Labour Migration Stakeholders Meeting on 1 September in Vientiane. The meeting was chaired by the Director General of the Department of Employment and brought together 44 participants from government, trade unions, civil society organizations, UN agencies, embassies, and academic experts to discuss emerging migration issues. The primary focus of the meeting was to exchange information on the latest policy developments in Lao PDR, as well as the recent interventions initiated by key stakeholders. Additionally, the event served as the soft launch for the new ILO study entitled “Precarious Pathways: Migration Patterns and Service Needs of Lao Migrant Workers.”
