ILO organized a field visit for Papua New Guinea’s Labor Minister to Samut Sakhon province on 26 September. The purpose of this visit was to learn about the Government’s efforts to improve labour inspection in Thailand’s fishing sector through a multi-disciplinary approach.

During the visit, four representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Employment of Papua New Guinea had the opportunity to observe an inspection at the Port-in/Port-out (PIPO) Centres located in Samut Sakhon. They gained insights into the PIPO inspection procedures and the mechanisms in place to ensure adherence to pertinent labour and fisheries regulations. This field trip was a part of the minister’s official visit to Thailand, during which three ILO conventions were deposited for ratification.
