Philippines identifies priority areas of action under Ship to Shore Rights SEA

On 5 August 2021, ILO convened the online national consultative dialogue for the Philippines. Attended by 43 participants representing a broad range of stakeholders including from government, workers’ and employers’ organizations, industry associations of recruiters as well as vessel owners, civil society and others, the meeting identified key areas of intervention for Ship to Shore Rights SEA to improve labour migration and decent work for workers in the fishing and seafood processing sectors. Participants raised important issues including the need to engage with stakeholders at barangay and municipal levels, the need to strengthen enforcement and implementation of existing national laws and policies, as well as the need to develop and recognize the skills of migrant workers.
