On 26-29th October, UNDP supported a meeting between Thailand and Lao PDR in Chiang Rai province to build bilateral cooperation on anti-trafficking responses. The meeting between 68 Thai and Lao government officials and civil society organizations was the first in-person meeting between stakeholders from the two border provinces of Chiang Rai and Bokeo since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The participants came together to plan strategies for collaboration to improve the effectiveness of prevention and protection activities for trafficking in persons and vulnerable migrants. The information gathered from the cross-border meeting will also be used to support the finalization of a transnational referral mechanism and implementation plan for the Greater Mekong Sub-region in December 2022.
