The ILO partnered with the International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers’ Associations (IUF) to organize a capacity building training on trade unionism and collective bargaining in Thailand’s seafood supply chain in Phuket on 9-11 December.

Using highly engaging and participatory training methods, a total of 33 participants from civil society organizations, community-based organizations and migrant community leaders learned practical organizing techniques and strategies and were empowered to take concrete steps towards collective action. An evaluation of the training found that the majority of the participants significantly improved their understanding of trade union organizing and collective bargaining and several requests were made for further ILO trainings on this topic.
