Freedom United is an advocacy platform that seeks to mobilize a united community to create power for change by making the public stakeholders in the ending modern slavery. It seeks to equip millions of supporters with awareness, education & ways to take action that drives real change. Freedom United’s “Slavery at Sea” is an umbrella theme under which it runs a number of specific campaign interventions around exploitation in the fishing industry. The slavery at sea theme will bring attention to labor abuses against both children and adults in the global fishing industry. Campaigns have focused on Thai seafood, deep-sea fishing in the Philippines, and Indonesian fishers.
