ILO supported Legal Support for Children and Women to publish an NGO position paper on a bilateral agreement on work in fishing between Cambodia and Thailand in April 2024. Developed as a collaborative effort between NGO members of the Forum on Migrant Labour and Anti-Human Trafficking in Cambodia, the report “Recruitment and Employment of Cambodian Migrant Fishers in Thailand” was developed through an extensive consultative process that applied a participatory methodology. It argues for the critical importance of a strong focus on expanding labour protections and access to justice for Cambodian migrant fishers in Thailand in the bilateral agreement to be developed, in line with the relevant international labour standards.
