ILO organized a field visit for the EU delegation to Samut Sakhon province to observe a Port-in/Port-out (PIPO) inspection and meet with Myanmar migrant workers on 10 March. The visit was attended by key officials from the EU Delegation and the ILO, including the EU Ambassador to Thailand and the ILO Country Director. During the visit, the EU delegates were able to observe the process of conducting a port-in/port-out inspection and worker welfare interviews, as well as boarding a fishing vessel to see the conditions firsthand. Following the experience, the EU Ambassador encouraged the Thai Government to continue its efforts to address IUU fishing and protect workers’ rights in the fishing and seafood processing industries.
