The ILO released a video highlighting its collaboration with the Indonesian government. This partnership aims to improve coordination among relevant government bodies, streamline regulations in the fishing industry, and bolster labour inspection systems.

As a result of this joint effort, the Provincial Marine Affairs and Fisheries Office and the Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office of Central Java Province have joined forces to establish a collaborative inspection mechanism for fishing vessels. This cooperative effort led to the issuance of Decree Number 523/012 Year of 2023 by the Regional Secretary of Central Java Province. This decree established a Joint Monitoring Team for Labor Norms on Fisheries Vessels at Fishing Ports within the province’s jurisdiction. Following the issuing of the decree, the first joint inspection took place onboard fishing vessels at the Juwana Fishing Port in Central Java Province, with both local government offices actively involved.
