In collaboration with the Village Focus International (VFI), the ILO conducted community outreach activities on 21-23 June in Vapy district, Salavan province in the southern part of Lao PDR. The activities engage 140 community members – among them 30 are migrant worker returnees from Thailand. Through the interactive activities, the participants received information, education and communication materials, and increased their awareness about safe migration. The outreach equipped potential migrants and those who plan to remigrate with knowledge about safe migration pathways so that they can make informed decisions about their labour migration and reduce the risks of exploitation and trafficking in persons during their migration.
