The 27th Annual Civic Journalism Community Press Awards was held on 25 April 2024 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila. For the fourth year in a row, the ILO supported the Philippine Press Institute to select the “Best Reporting on Migration Issues” among community newspapers nationwide.
This special category is funded by the ILO’s Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia programme through the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication. The Institute is tasked with screening entries and identifying 2 winners, who were announced during the awards ceremony. This year, Panay News (Iloilo City) and Samar Weekly Express (Catbalogan) won in this category and received their trophies during the televised event.
