On 14 May 2024, a photo exhibition titled “Not just Labor: Migrant Photo Voices from Thailand’s Fisheries” was launched in collaboration between the ILO and SEA-Junction at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The photos in the exhibit were taken by Cambodian and Myanmar migrant workers in Phuket, Chantaburi and Phang Nga provinces of Thailand. They document the lives of migrants not only in the workplace but also the personal, emotional and creative aspects of who they are. The photos show that migrants are not only workers but are human beings who bring with them rich cultures, unique perspectives and deep family and social connections that should be valued and respected.

The exhibit was launched with a panel discussion featuring experts from the ILO, civil society organizations, journalists and academics on 14 May. The event was attended by more than 50 participants, was broadcast live on Facebook and Mizzima Television (the largest independent news outlet in Myanmar) and received substantial media coverage in RFA, Bangkok Tribune, Khaosod English, BACC and Creative Thailand.
