Through Ship to Shore Rights SEA and TRIANGLE in ASEAN, ILO has provided USD 35,000 to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare to support migrant workers from Lao People’s Democratic Republic who have returned during the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant will support 4,500 return migrant workers in Champassak, Salavan, Bokeo, Xayaboury and Vientiane, ensuring that they have sufficient food, hygiene and personal items during the quarantine period. The grant will also ensure that that the livelihoods and health of return migrant workers are improved through access to information about job opportunities, safe migration, and prevention of COVID-19.
