United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) under Ship to Shore Rights SEA brought together key partners to find effective ways forward for the protection of trafficked persons and migrants in Cambodia. The virtual focus group discussion, held on 4 January 2022, provided a platform for partners from international organization and non-governmental organizations

working in trafficking in persons response in Cambodia to exchange knowledge and share aspiring visions on the Transnational Referral Mechanism (TRM), a mechanism to help strengthen multilateral cooperation in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region (GMS) in providing effective assistance and protection for trafficked persons and exploited migrants.

This focus group discussion is the first of many national consultations to take place in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, and Vietnam within this year to support the inclusive TRM development process.

Throughout 2022, UNDP will work with key stakeholders in the GMS to explore TRM implementing options and design a framework that addresses gaps in existing responses to transnational trafficking and complements the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and existing bi-lateral cooperation for trafficking in the GMS region.
