The Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia (S2SR) Programme in Lao People’s Democratic Republic held its 2nd National Programme Advisory Committee (NPAC) meeting on 28 April at Lao Plaza Hotel in Vientiane.
The NPAC meeting was co-chaired by the European Union Delegation and the Department of Employment and was attended by 32 tripartite plus representatives, which included the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Lao Federation of Trade Unions, Migrant Worker Resource Centre in Bolikhamxay province and Village Focus International. The meeting reviewed the progress achieved in 2022-2023 and approved the programme’s work plan.
It was noted that S2SR made substantial progress during the last year, particularly in supporting a gap analysis on the alignment of the national legal framework in Lao PDR with international labour standards on recruitment of migrant workers.
