With funding from the ILO Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia programme, the Cambodia Labour Confederation (CLC) will establish a Migrant Worker Resource Centre (MRC) in Koh Kong province. The location was selected as it is a key area of origin and border crossing point for migrants seeking employment in the fishing and seafood processing sectors in Thailand. The MRC in Koh Kong will provide essential information and services to potential and returning migrant workers, including training and provision of informational materials on safe migration, labour rights and worker organizing, capacity building training for local authorities, networking for migration stakeholders, legal assistance with migrant complaint cases and provision of support for return and reintegration of migrant workers.

The project will build on the success of the MRC managed by CLC in Prey Veng province, as well as more heavily engage with the sectoral specificities of labour migration into fishing and seafood processing work. It will also benefit from cross-border partnerships established with worker organizations and CSOs in Thailand, allowing for end-to-end support to be delivered to Cambodian migrant workers on access to justice and worker organizing. With additional support from the Ship to Shore Rights SEA programme, the activities will support safe migration into the fishing and seafood processing sectors, as well as expand the livelihoods and resilience of returning migrants in Koh Kong.
