ILO collaborates with Stella Maris and Fair Training Center to enhance pre-departure training for migrant fishers in the Philippines

On 1 September, the ILO held a meeting with the Stella Maris National Director of Chaplains in the Philippines. The purpose of the meeting was to develop plans for implementing the pre-departure orientation package. The Fair Training Center is currently in the process of designing the training programme through a participatory approach, incorporating extensive feedback from migrant fishers. After finalizing the content, Stella Maris will be responsible for delivering the training to migrant fishers at the community level. Church ministries will play a key role in coordinating and organizing the workshops for migrant fishers before they are deployed for work overseas.
