Trade unions and civil society organizations come together to strengthen legal protection and assistance to the migrant workers in Myanmar

On 9 June 2022, ILO organized the 3rd Fishing Network Coordination Meeting with 7 women and 10 men from trade unions, legal aid organizations, labour rights organizations and civil society organizations. The meeting focused on legal aid to migrant workers in vulnerable settings and effective legal assistance from organizations in the sector. The Fifth Pillar, Legal Clinic Myanmar, FED and FLC shared their work, best practices and experiences with carrying out legal aid for migrant workers in the country.

Participants brainstormed potential linkages and areas for collaboration among organizations, and ways to maintain legal assistance to migrant workers effectively and improve information sharing and access to legal aid.
